[ That's it, that's the text. Are they in the same room, standing next to each other, or any scenario where they could simply talk to one another? Quite possibly; and yet, this is what's happening. ]

[ No matter what's happening, he just texts back without a second thought and not even looking at her pointedly if she's in the room with him. Mostly since he suspects why he's getting this. ]

[ And she's looking at him now. ]

Did you tell her?

[ More than once, as well. Hopefully this would be a good enough answer for her? Maybe? ]

[ If he blinks, someone will be sitting at his side facing him, slowly leaning forward with a smile tugging at her lips. Is she sparkling a little?? Maybe. ]

[ Of course it wouldn't be so simple as to leave things at that, would it?

When she's suddenly at his side like that, it's enough to have him blinking and looking to her with a mild look of surprise and uncertainty on his face. ]

[ He scoffed and looked away from Setsura pointedly. ]

It was simply a confession of love. You're reading too much into it.

And if he's going to look away from her, she's going to shift around a bit and -- yes, she's going to lay across his lap. There is no escaping her. ]

[ If he wasn't blushing before, he is now. Even if he is trying his best to scowl at her and failing. ]

We ran into each other at that water park and I made up my mind to tell her now that she was back. There's not much else to it.

[ Which is sort of a lie but he's flustered and this is almost too much for him. ]

She passed out, then after I carried her out of the way? Proceeded to ask me to keep saying it to her..

[ That he's trying and failing to scowl at her while blushing is precious to her and her smile tugs wider and softens as she reaches up to pat his cheek, her hand settling there against that warmth. ]

Higuchi-san is a lucky woman. Make sure you show her that face, hm? I'm sure she'd love to see it.

[ As soon as that hand came up to touch his cheek, the scowl dissipated and he quietly regarded her while looking like some kind of lost puppy for a second. ]

That... is quite likely.

[ He paused, thinking for a moment. When he speaks again, his tone is fond; soft. ]

Granted... I could make many... expressions and she would love it.

[chichichi]

[ That lost puppy look is as precious as that change in tone. She runs her thumb over his cheek. ]

Of course she would. She loves you.

...It feels... odd to have someone say that to me.

[ He paused, looking down for a small moment. ]

Knowing that someone... actually feels that way about me after the people i've killed.

[ Oops. He hadn't meant to say that out loud but he can't take it back. ]

[ Her hand moves from his cheek to his chin to tip his head up so that he's looking at her, so she can search his eyes, his expression more directly. ]

Look at me, Akutagawa-san.

[ It takes a small moment but his eyes do finally look up at her, a quiet inquiry on his face. ]

You deserve to be loved.

[ That makes his eyes widen a little as it sinks in; what she'd said. ]

Tch. If you knew the me from before here... you wouldn't say that.

I don't recall stuttering or putting conditions on that statement. Do I need to repeat myself? Because I will. As many times as I need to, I will.

I... don't know. It's... just hard to accept such a statement when you're the first who's ever said it to me in my life.

[ Such a casual admittance but lying served no purpose here. ]

I'm sure Higuchi-san would more than agree with me and Chuuya and Dazai-sensei wouldn't let you hear the end of it if they knew about this.

[ And her lips split in a grin. ]

Should I call them here?

No. You don't need to call them come here.

[ He's at least less sulk-y and maybe possibly blushing a bit. Why did people have to have good points when it came to these matters?! ]

[ Because Setsura, at least, is right. ]

There's a good boy.

[ She strokes his cheek, beaming at him. ]

But I want to see it sometimes, too. Don't forget, alright?

[ Her casual 'good boy' comment is enough to make the color darken on his cheeks, the warmth of which she could probably feel as she stroked one of them. ]

...I'll do my best not to.

[ Akutagawa sighed softly, and for a second he smiled softly. ]

Though... if it's you, I suppose I could put the effort into it if you wished.

Is that a question? Of course I do.

[ She doesn't miss that warmth or the softness of that smile. It really does look good on him and she caresses his cheek with her thumb softly. ]
